Lesson Plan: Unmounted – Dressage Fashion Show

GOALS
Long Term: To get the kids to recognize different types of apparel.
Short Terml: Help them get ready for their rally

EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Pony Club Manual, a set of formal and informal attire and a couple of older kids as models

AGE & RATING OF STUDENTS
Note Age generalities:
Age 4-7:  Lateral motion, body position, spatial body awareness, lots of imagination;
Age 8-11: Group activities, socialization, one key concept, increase vocabulary;
Age 11-14: Relationship w/ teacher important., one-to-one, increase vocabulary level

Intro/ Welcome

Game or Method:

Have the kids wear the clothes that they intend to wear to the rally to the meeting.

Teacher’s goal:

Explain the differences between the clothes they may wear at the dressage rally and how they may differ from another rally they may go to this year.

Warm-up

Game or Method:

Have the clothes you brought on the table. As the kids to put together a formal and an informal outfit.

Mental/Physical Prep

Do they know the difference.

Ask them to tell the differences

Talk about jewelry.

Show them in the Manual were to find  the answer

Practice or one time around to get idea of lesson/game, relax

Explain that you need to be neat and clean a work men like first and foremost.

Game/Method to teach Goal:

Have each child walk the runway and have the other kids say if they are formal or informal. Have the older kids show a good example of both

Slow paced game/activity while teacher & students ask/answer questions

Be prepared to answer questions about what the kids should wear to the rally. Remember the clothes do not have to be expensive.  Ask if anyone has clothes that their kids have out grown to pass on.  That is the best way to get clothes, since they out grow them so fast.
